# Internet Fax test

> Send a page from a copier's Internet Fax (I-Fax) mode to a Faxbeep test address and check how it arrived.

In Internet Fax (I-Fax) (Internet Fax: a copier mode that sends a scanned page as an email, without a phone line.) mode, a copier scans a page and emails it, usually as a TIFF attachment, through your network and outgoing mail server. Send a page this way to a test address, and Faxbeep displays it on [faxbeep.com](https://faxbeep.com).

> [!WARNING]
>
> Each test is public for 30 days. Anyone can open it on faxbeep.com. Use a test page with no personal or confidential information. To remove a test early, see [Remove a fax](https://faxbeep.mintlify.site/privacy/remove-a-fax.md).

## Which test do you need?

"Internet fax" can mean two different things.

| Your setup | Test to use |
| - | - |
| Your copier has an Internet Fax or I-Fax mode, and you enter an email address | This test. Send to a test email address. |
| You use an online fax service and send from a website, an app, or your email | The [fax test](https://faxbeep.mintlify.site/tests/fax.md). Your service sends an ordinary fax to a test number. |

## Test addresses

| Country | Dial locally | International | Test email address |
| - | - | - | - |
| US | 1 (972) 532-9272 | +19725329272 | [19725329272@faxbeep.com](mailto:19725329272@faxbeep.com) |
| UK | (020) 3808-9463 | +442038089463 | [442038089463@faxbeep.com](mailto:442038089463@faxbeep.com) |
| Australia | (02) 6103-9109 | +61261039109 | [61261039109@faxbeep.com](mailto:61261039109@faxbeep.com) |

Each fax number is also a test email address. Use the digits of the international number, without the `+`, followed by `@faxbeep.com`.

Use an address from the "Test email address" column. They're the same addresses as for the [scan to email test](https://faxbeep.mintlify.site/tests/scan-to-email.md).

## How to send an Internet Fax

**1. Enter a test address**

Choose one of the test email addresses.

**2. Send from your copier**

Select Internet Fax mode, enter the address, and send one page. The name of the mode varies by manufacturer: look for "Internet Fax", "I-Fax", or "iFax" on the control panel or in the fax settings.

**3. Find your result**

Open [faxbeep.com](https://faxbeep.com). Your page usually appears at the top of the results within a minute. It's titled "Email from" followed by your masked sender address, and its page says "Received by email".

**4. Check the result**

Open your page. Check that it's upright and readable, and that the page count is right. See [The fax page](https://faxbeep.mintlify.site/results/fax-page.md).

## What you can send

Internet Fax tests follow the same rules and limits as the [scan to email test](https://faxbeep.mintlify.site/tests/scan-to-email.md):

| Item | Rule |
| - | - |
| File types | PDF, TIFF, and JPEG |
| Attachments per email | One is used |
| Pages | Up to 20 per attachment |
| Email size | 7 MB for the whole email, so the attachment can be about 5 MB |
| Hourly limit | 60 emails per hour from one sender address |

## Refusals and send errors

Faxbeep doesn't send a reply email or a delivery report. If it can't accept your page, it rejects the email during delivery with a short message. Your outgoing mail server reports that message, and many copiers display or print it. See [Email refusal messages](https://faxbeep.mintlify.site/troubleshooting/email-refusals.md).

If your copier shows a send error that isn't one of those messages, check its outgoing mail server (SMTP) settings first. Internet Fax uses the same mail settings as scan to email. If nothing appears on faxbeep.com and you get no message, see [My fax does not appear](https://faxbeep.mintlify.site/troubleshooting/fax-does-not-appear.md).
