# Remove a fax

> Request removal of a test from faxbeep.com before it expires, and confirm the request by email.

Faxbeep removes every test automatically after 30 days (see [Public for 30 days](https://faxbeep.mintlify.site/privacy/public-for-30-days.md)). To remove a test early, open its page, select **Request Removal**, and confirm using the link sent to your email address.

## Request removal

**1. Open the test's page**

In the test results on faxbeep.com, click your test. Below the fax, next to "Contains something that shouldn't be public?", click **Request Removal**.

**2. Fill in the form**

The form identifies the test by its masked sender and arrival date: "You are requesting removal of fax from (sender) received on (date)."

* **Your Email**: an address you can read. Faxbeep sends the confirmation link there.
* **Reason for removal**: a short reason, such as "I sent this fax" or "Contains personal information".

Both fields are required. Complete the CAPTCHA, then click **Submit Removal Request**.

**3. Check your email**

A "Check Your Email" page confirms that the link was sent. The email has the subject "Confirm fax removal request - Faxbeep" and a **Confirm Removal** button.

The link expires after 4 hours.

**4. Confirm the removal**

Click **Confirm Removal** in the email. A "Fax Removed" page confirms that the test is gone.

After removal, the test disappears from the test results, and its page shows "This fax has been removed per user request."

>
> The test is removed as soon as the confirmation link is opened. Some email security systems open links to scan them, so the test can be removed before you click the button yourself.

## Confirmation messages

Opening the confirmation link shows one of these pages:

| Page heading | Message | Meaning |
| - | - | - |
| Fax Removed | The fax from (masked sender) has been permanently removed. | The test has been removed. |
| Link Expired | This removal link has expired. Please submit a new removal request if needed. | More than 4 hours have passed. Request removal again. |
| Invalid Link | This removal link is invalid or has expired. | The link is incomplete or wrong. Copy the full link from the email. |
| Fax Already Removed | This fax has already been removed from our system. | The test was already removed by this link, by another request, or automatically. |

You can submit more than one request for the same test. The first confirmation link that is opened removes it, and any other link then shows "Fax Already Removed".

If the test has already been removed when you click **Request Removal**, you see the "Fax Already Removed" page instead of the form.

## Form errors

If the form can't be submitted, it reloads with one of these messages:

| Message | What to do |

| CAPTCHA verification failed. Please try again. | Complete the CAPTCHA again and resubmit. |
| Too many removal requests. Please try again later. | Wait a while, then submit the form again. |
| Too many removal requests from this email. Please try again later. | Wait a while, then submit the form again. |

The form also shows an error if a field is empty, the email address is invalid, or its domain doesn't exist.
